I'm going to be posting daily prompts to inspire writing, art or journaling. Use these as you would like to help keep your creative practices moving.

Key words/ideas:

  • speed and haste

  • interruption

  • finding direction

Some thoughts that occur to me:

  • A character who is quick to act - the tensions between the advantage of taking action quickly and the risk.

  • We often throw lots of conflict at a character and require them to react. What would happen if they just got completely overwhelmed? How far can your hero be pushed before they break?

  • A mysterious mentor turns up at a remote farm and tells a young boy he is the chosen one, destined to overthrow the dark lord. But all is not as it seems. Come up with your twist and then think about how the mentor would keep the hero run ragged to stop them having time to think things through.

Note that cards are drawn at random and may be drawn more than once. In that case I will repost with an additional idea. I am going to cap the number of repeats at 3 until I’ve been through the whole deck, but other than this I let the luck of the draw decide. Coming up with more ideas for the same card will force me to be more imaginative and its something I strongly recommend.
