I'm going to be posting daily prompts to inspire writing, art or journaling. Use these as you would like to help keep your creative practices moving.

Key words/ideas:

  • financial issues

  • excessive sacrifice

  • worry

Some thoughts that occur to me:

  • If you are creating a world, think about what hardship looks like in it. What happens to the poorest people in your society? What are their lives like?

  • A character who is a worry wort. Are their worries founded or not? What happens when their worrying is validated?

  • A character at their lowest ebb receives an offer of help from a benefactor. Do they accept? Is there a catch? How do they react to their change of fortune?

  • A character who has long prepared themselves to be a martyr to their cause suddenly finds they don’t have to be. How do they react?

Note that cards are drawn at random and may be drawn more than once. In that case I will repost with an additional idea. I am going to cap the number of repeats at 3 until I’ve been through the whole deck, but other than this I let the luck of the draw decide. Coming up with more ideas for the same card will force me to be more imaginative and its something I strongly recommend.
