Two of Cups
I'm going to be posting daily prompts to inspire writing, art or journaling. Use these as you would like to help keep your creative practices moving.
Key words/ideas:
partnership
duality
cooperation and connection
Some thoughts that occur to me:
Write a pair of characters who are two parts of a whole, but are undertaking their stories separately. They should impact each other’s stories, but never meet, even at the end.
There are many opportunities for conflict in partnerships - difference of opinion, jealousy. Pick a two genres and generate a list of ideas for partnerships in each genre. Then swap the genres over and write a story.
Two characters share a drink in honour of an agreement. Why is the drink significant to what is agreed?
A character on one side of a divide finds themselves connected to an opposing person. How do they negotiate this?
Note that cards are drawn at random and may be drawn more than once. In that case I will repost with an additional idea. I am going to cap the number of repeats at 3 until I’ve been through the whole deck, but other than this I let the luck of the draw decide. Coming up with more ideas for the same card will force me to be more imaginative and its something I strongly recommend.
